Case Study: Full-Service Audio for Sakrete Branded Content Reality Series

Concrete Combat is a reality competition series from Sakrete, streaming on The Roku Channel and YouTube TV. The show puts concrete professionals head-to-head in fast-paced building challenges, blending branded storytelling with the energy of reality television. Shinobi Sound was brought on to provide complete audio services from recording on set to final delivery.

Shinobi Sound delivered reliable audio from start to finish, covering everything from fast-paced production sound on set to polished audio post in the studio. By keeping dialogue clear, tools and builds impactful, and final mixes consistent across Roku and YouTube, we helped Concrete Combat maintain the energy of reality TV while staying professional and brand-focused.

The result was a branded content campaign that gave Sakrete a fresh way to connect with audiences, blending competition, construction, and entertainment in a format that felt both engaging and fun.

Concrete Combat was filmed primarily on the soundstage at PC&E with multiple teams working at once, surrounded by constant construction noise. The run-and-gun nature of reality TV meant contestants, judges, and the host were always moving, which required reliable wireless coverage and fast problem-solving. The semi-final at an outdoor skatepark raised the stakes with four teams of two, four judges, and the host all mic’d simultaneously.

On top of capturing clean production sound, the series also relied on audio post-production to refine dialogue, balance the chaos of the builds, and deliver consistent mixes for Roku and YouTube.

THE CHALLENGE

OUR APPROACH

For Concrete Combat, we handled everything from recording in the field to the final mix.

On Set
We rolled in with a full sound cart, high-gain antennas, and a three-person crew to keep things running smoothly. With up to 13 wireless lavs active at once, we made sure contestants, judges, and the host were all covered. Most of the competition was captured on lavs so the teams could move freely, while interviews combined lavs and a boom for extra clarity.

The Semi-Final Challenge
One of the biggest lifts was the outdoor semi-final at a skatepark. We had four teams of two, four judges, and the host all mic’d up at the same time. It was a challenging RF environment, but careful planning and gear management kept everything clean and reliable.

In Post
Once production wrapped, we moved into dialogue editorial to clean up every line. We layered in sound design and Foley to give weight to pours, tool hits, and build moments, then delivered a stereo mix that was standardized for Roku and YouTube playback.
